Animal Welfare Club, University of Jammu: Club Officers & Executive Committee (Academic Session 2026–2027)

The University of Jammu has officially constituted the Animal Welfare Club for the academic session 2026–2027 with the objective of promoting animal welfare, compassion, and responsible care for community animals on the university campus.

The Club has been established to organize awareness programmes, rescue and welfare initiatives, adoption and sterilization drives, and other activities aimed at creating a safe and compassionate environment for animals within the campus.

Club Officers

The Competent Authority has nominated the following officers to lead the Animal Welfare Club:

  • Chairperson: Prof. Sarika Manhas (Department of Home Science)

  • Co-Chairperson: Dr. Neeraj Sharma (Department of Environmental Sciences)

  • General Secretary: Dr. Bharat Bhushan (Medical Officer)

These officers will provide overall leadership and guidance to the club while ensuring the smooth implementation of its objectives and activities.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee has been constituted with representatives from different sections of the University, including:

  • Faculty Members from Teaching Departments

  • Wardens from Boys' and Girls' Hostels

  • Administrative Officers

  • Staff Members

  • Research Scholars

The committee has been formed to coordinate and support the functioning of the Animal Welfare Club throughout the academic session.

Objectives of the Executive Committee

The Executive Committee will work collectively with the Club Officers to:

The constitution of the Animal Welfare Club marks an important step towards institutionalizing animal welfare initiatives at the University of Jammu.
