The name of the club shall be Jammu University Animal Welfare Club.
The Club shall be a non-statutory body of the University of Jammu created in response to a need identified by the University Administration.
The Club shall provide students, faculty members, officers, staff members, and campus residents with legal information, programmes, and resources regarding animal welfare and work to avoid man-animal conflict within the University campus.
The Club shall:
Organize awareness programmes on animal rights.
Prevent diseases and facilitate veterinary treatment.
Arrange food and shelter for animals.
Organize vaccination and sterilization programmes.
Coordinate animal population control initiatives.
Collaborate with Government bodies and NGOs for animal welfare.
Encourage active participation of Club members and volunteers.
The Financial Rules of the University of Jammu shall be followed.
Membership shall be open to:
Scholars enrolled in the University.
Faculty members.
Officers.
Staff members.
Residents of the University Campus.
Former students who are members of the University of Jammu Alumni Association (UJAA) shall also be eligible.
Membership shall remain valid for three years and may be renewed.
Membership shall be granted after payment of the prescribed fee and verification of affiliation with the University.
Members may be assigned responsibilities as Event Coordinators whenever required.
Any student enrolled in the University may register as a Volunteer for one year, extendable upon application through the Head of the concerned Department.
The Club shall have the following officers:
Duties
Hold responsibility for finances.
Convene General Body and Executive Committee meetings.
Propose purchases for the Club.
Prepare yearly budget and goals.
Arrange funds.
Frame Standard Operating Procedures.
Duties
Perform duties of the Chairperson in their absence (excluding financial powers).
Organize Animal Welfare programmes.
Coordinate Club events.
Maintain the Club notice board and social media.
Execute decisions of the Executive Committee.
Assist other officers whenever necessary.
Duties
Collect membership fees.
Maintain membership records.
Organize meetings.
Maintain records of Club activities.
Maintain accounts and expenditure.
Prepare annual budget and audited expenditure statements.
Handle official correspondence.
The Executive Committee shall consist of:
Three Faculty Members.
One Warden from Boys' Hostels.
One Warden from Girls' Hostels.
Two Administrative Officers.
Two Staff Members.
Three Research Scholars.
Two Alumni.
Meet regularly to review progress.
Take important decisions.
Recommend purchase proposals.
Plan fundraising activities.
Decide membership fees.
Approve the annual budget.
The Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, shall serve as the Advisor in an ex-officio capacity.
The Chairperson shall consult the Advisor on important matters relating to animal welfare, human-animal conflict, and Club programmes.
The Executive Board shall consist of:
Advisor
Chairperson
Co-Chairperson
General Secretary
Executive Committee Members
The Executive Board shall resolve all inter-club and intra-club matters.
The Vice-Chancellor shall be the Competent Authority for all matters relating to the Club and shall preside over meetings of the Executive Board.
The Chairperson, Co-Chairperson, and General Secretary shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor for a period of three years.
The Advisor shall recommend the names of the Club Officers to the Vice-Chancellor.
Executive Committee Members shall be selected or elected by the General Body through a fair and transparent method.
Any amendment to the Constitution shall require approval by two-thirds (2/3) of the General Members, either in person or electronically.
All officers and members shall abide by the disciplinary rules of the University of Jammu.
Any officer or member may be removed by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the members, either in person or electronically, subject to approval by the Vice-Chancellor.
